All the information and techniques that Chevalier got from there were all practiced and transmitted to some of his friends here in Dipolog and John, being one of them, was able to learn many things especially that he has all the courage to pursue skim boarding and get some ideas by going to other cities.

“Good thing about skim boarding is that we can do it all the time particularly here in Dipolog where we have one of the best beaches in the country which is the Sicayab Beach that is perfectly designed by nature for sand skimming” he said.

Skim boarding is also a non-expensive sport because the venue is just 5 to 10 minutes away from the heart of the city that would cost only P5.00 by riding a motor cab.

You can already own beautiful skim boards if you have P1,000 or even lesser if you have friends who know how to make it. “But everybody can make their own board if they want to spend less money”, he added.

People can do skimming during the day or during the night depending on their convenience as long as they are equipped with the necessary gear needed for skim boarding  such as the all-important skim board, drinking water, surf suit or wet suit, shades and sun block for those delicate skin  especially during the day and head lamp during the night.

Starting from the month of December until this month of June, the number of skimboard enthusiasts had increased and reached up to one hundred plus and 50 of them are serious and have showed some intimate passion for it.

John added that skim boarding is really an addicting sport because once you are able to glide your board in the sand then you will surely love it like him and his two brothers,  Lemuel and Karlo who can’t help but go to the beach after office and enjoy the ride. Just a little reminder from him that skim boarding is a very fun and cool sport but just like any other sport there are risks in doing it, so enthusiasts must be extra careful and to stay focused to reduce untoward incidents.

Recently, the Greater Dipag Jaycees together with the Skim Pipes and the DOS Skim Boarders sponsored the first ever Skim Festival here in Dipolog held at the Sicayab Beach which was in line with the celebration of the Pagsalabuk Festival of the City Government of Dipolog and many young people joined the said activity.

If you where happen to be there, you will surely love and be amazed of what you will see at the venue because it’s like you’re not in Sicayab Beach. Who could ever imagine that a lonesome beach that is like been sleeping for a long time has come alive and kicking for a change.

Well, skimming activity like this is a blessing for us Dipolognons especially that it’s the best  way to promote  the City of Dipolog particularly, the Sicayab Beach to other cities in the country or even in the whole world while endorsing at the same time the new sport that young Dipolognons are addicted with.
