Dipolog is known to
be “The Orchid City” not the reason that
Dipolognons has grown a lot of orchids in their
homes but for the symbol it stands.
It is a symbol of success and
achievement that Dipolog is associated to whether
in sports, academic, culture presentation and
other competition which Dipolog has garnered
several honors in the region and sometime in the
national level. In other words, Dipolog is the
city of achievers.

One of the utmost help to
Dipolognons in reaching this very remarkable
achievement in the fields that they are involved
with especially in education is the Provincial
Library that has been a treasure to everyone in
Dipolog and in the province of Zamboanga del
Norte.
From July 1, 1948 since the
library was created, it was able to serve the
students and professionals by way of providing the
needed information for the assignments and
researches as well as answers to their queries.

Luckily, through the initiative
of the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del
Norte under the administration of Governor Isagani
Amatong with the financial support of Senator
Ramon Magsaysay Jr. a modern and complete public
library in the whole country was built in the
province particularly in Dipolog City as a
replacement of its old library located inside the
Provincial Capitol.

The Zamboanga del Norte
Provincial Library building was inaugurated during
the celebration of “Public Library Month” which is
regularly celebrated in the month of March under
Republic Act 411, specifically on March 27, 2003
being witnessed by Senator Magsaysay as honored
guest in the said occasion together the officials
of the province with its two cities of Dipolog and
Dapitan.

The P7 million plus worth of the
state of the art provincial library is divided
into five sections which include the Reference
section, Periodicals and Children’s section
located at the first floor and the two other
sections are Filipiniana and Audio-visual Sections
located at the second floor of the building.
