Dipolog
City—Central Barangay was proclaimed winner of the
Street Dancing competition of the “Pagsalabuk Street
Dancing Festival 2001” hosted by the local government of
Dipolog to highlight the celebration of the “Adlaw sa
Dipolog 2001” last Saturday, June 30,2001.

There were only four contingents
from the barangays of Dipolog that joined the Street
Dancing competition, which includes the barangays of Barra,
Miputak, Minaog and Central Barangay. The presentation of
the said event was composed of street dancing with dance
stations along the streets of the city and a final
presentation of dances in Plaza Magsaysay. Samba, Tango,
and Rumba were the official dances that were performed by
the contestants.
The
criteria of the said street dancing competition were the
following: Choreography 20%, Performance 20%, and Costume
10%. For the final presentation: choreography 20%,
performance 20%, and props 10% with a total of 100%. Big
prizes that were given: 1st prize PHP 25,000.00
won by Central Barangay contingents, 2nd prize
PHP 20,000.00 won by Barangay Miputak, 3rd
prize PHP 15,000.00 won by the participants from Brgy.
Minaog.
The board
of judges of the said competition were Miss Georgia E.
Gajetela, Mrs. Gemma Jacinto Laput, Mrs. Aletha M. Saile
who was the Chairman of the Board, Mrs. Amadora E. Castelo,
and Mrs. Merlyn Villarico Alferez.
