Brief Personal Profile of
Uldarico M. Mejorada II
ULDARICO M. MEJORADA II
is in his first term in the City Council of Dipolog.
This young legislator is a lawyer by profession. He
passed the Bar Examination given in Manila in
September 2000.
He presently chairs two
giant committees in the City Council of Dipolog
namely: The Committee on Commerce and Industry and
the Committee on Economic Enterprise, he is also the
Vice Chairman of the following committees: Committee
on Peace and Order, Committee on Youth Sports &
Development; Committee on Livelihood & Cooperatives
and a Member of the following committees: Committee
on Agriculture; Committee on Health, Committee on
Energy & Transportation and Committee on Environment
and Natural Resources.
Aside from his active
participation in the Dipolog City Sangguniang
Panlungsod, he is also the Vice Chairman of the
Youth Sports Development Council, Vice Chairman of
the City Market Committee and a Social Manager of
the Dipolog City Tourism Council. He is also the
Chairman of the: Task Force KAWSA KONTRA SUNOG under
the Office of the City Mayor, and the Chairman of
the Screening and Awards Committee of all public
markets stalls in Dipolog.
Born in Dipolog City on
September 30, 1972. His parents are Honorable Board
Provincial Member Uldarico Bagnol Mejorada (2nd
District, Zamboanga del Norte) and Mrs. Lilia Cuenca
Mejorada, a former school teacher. He graduated
Valedictorian from Andres Bonifacio College
Elementary Department in 1985. He attended High
School at the University of the Philippines – Cebu
City from 1985 up to 1989. A dean’s Lister during
his college days, he finished his undergraduate
studies from the University of San Carlos, Cebu City
with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Commerce
Major in Accounting in which he was a recipient of
the Presidential Citation. He received his degree of
Bachelor of Laws at the University of the East,
Manila where he was also awarded the University
Citation.
A dynamic student
leader, he was elected vice-president of the Supreme
Student Council of the University of the Philippines
– High School for SY 1987-1988. In college, he was
elected President of the Supreme Student Council of
the University of San Carlos for SY 1991 – 1992.
He was an active
participant in various conventions and contests in
and outside the campus during his college days. He
was the Champion of the National Extemporaneous
Speaking Contest held at Teacher’s Camp, Baguio City
on April 1990 sponsored by the NF-JPIA and PICPA. He
was also awarded the Gold Medal during the National
Impromptu Speech Competition held at the Manila
Inter-Continental Hotel on July 27, 1990. He was the
TEAM CAPTAIN of the University of the East Law
Debating Team in 1998 and the Best Speaker of the
MLQU Law School versus U.E. Law Inter School
parliamentary debate (qualifying round), the Best
Speaker of the San Sebastian College of Law versus
University of the East Inter Law Scool (semifina
round), and the Best Speaker of the East Versus
University of Santo Tomas Inter-Law School
Parliamentary Debate (Championship Round) and was
awarded the Speaker’s Cup in 1998. He was also the
Champion of the University of the East Speech
Festival in 1997.
Ricky as his family
fondly calls him is presently the President of the
ZNUC or the Zamboanga del Norte United
Correspondents (a province-wide media organization
of young media practitioners), National Coordinator
of the DYP of the Dipolog Youth for Progress (a
youth organization established since 1992 for
community development) and the National Executive
Vice President of the NMYL or the National Movement
of Young Legislators (a national organization of
elected public officials 35 years old and below
involved in lawmaking, like congressmen, vice
governor, board members, vice mayor and councilors).
Still single, Ricky is
also an active member of the Rotary Club of Dipolog
and the Knights of Columbus Council 3374 of the Holy
Rosary Parish |
