Dr.
Nenita Bermudez Lacaya was a Provincial Board
Member, District II, Zamboanga del Norte for nine
(9) consecutive years. In her stint as a
Provincial Board, she sincerely made and
religiously fulfilled her promises to the people
of Zamboanga del Norte. In fact her ardent desire
to serve the public, especially the people of
Dipolog City, is the primary reason why she
decided again to run for public office in the
recently concluded election last May 2001. She was
sworn in her first term as member of the City
Council last June 30, 2001.
She
was the wife of former Governor of Zamboanga del
Norte, the late Virginio Barbaso Lacaya. They are
gifted with three children namely: Dr. Carmel
Lacaya Concha – Dentist; Dr. Louis Felipe Lacaya
– Ophthalmologist and Engr. Victor Thomas B.
Lacaya – PAL Pilot.
Her
extensive community involvement and commitment to
promote the integration of Women as full and equal
partners to that of men, prompted her to pass an
Ordinance Establishing Women’s Care and
Rehabilitation Center in the Province of ZN during
her stint as Provincial Board. She was appointed
by the former President Corazon C. Aquino as
Commissioner of the Regional Consultative
Commission for Autonomous region in Muslim
Mindanao. She was also appointed by Justice Leonor
Ines Luciano as Local Accreditor of the National
Accreditation Committee for Women’s
Organizations. She was also elected as the
National Board of Directors of Women Involve in
Nation Building (WIN) and the Catholic Women’s
League (CWL). She has also a radio program at RPN
9 DXKD, “The Women’s Desk on the Air,” every
Wednesday ay 9:00 o’clock in the morning. |
