The city has various sports facilities. These are the following: four tennis courts at different locations of which one is privately owned: six-lane bowlodrome and four billiard
halls.
Added to these are public basketball courts in almost every barangay within the city. One (1) big dome type edifice known as the Zamboanga del Norte Cultural and Sports Center, having a sitting capacity of 3,000 and an Olympic-size swimming pool at the back of the Center. The Zamboanga del Norte provincial government administered Teacher’s Convention Center and a Gymnasium. The
Amando Borja Amatong Civic Center is having sitting capacity of 6,000 persons. The Zamboanga del Norte National High School Athletic grounds that can accommodate all ball games and track and field events where in the Palarong Pambansa was once held here in 1982.
The schools have always played a major part in the promotion of sports development and physical fitness programs and activities through the annual sports programs, like District Meets, City Meets, Provincial Meets and Intramural Meets that give chances to students to engage in the field of sports. |
